How to set your RP Prefs We ask all current chars and all future new chars to fill out their roleplaying prefs. We have code for it (+help +prefs). We have the following fields for prefs in the code:

The options for each field are: +++ Yes I love this I would never pass up a chance for this kind of rp. ++ Yes I generally like this rp. + Yes this kind of rp is okay, no need to ask, but it's not my favorite. 0 I would like you to negotiate with me before we do this kind of thing. - I really don't enjoy this but if we negotiate I might be swayed. -- I don't like this and I would very likely not say yes to it at any time. --- I HATE being confronted with this situation, even as a witness. I will leave the room if it would occur. So basically any amount of + means you don't have to ask permission, a 0 is neutral, negotiate, with any amount of - it is very probable that even negotiation is not going to work. If someone has --- on something, they are themselves responsible for making sure they remove themselves from any situation this might come up, but it is fair of them to ask other players not to force any such situations on them if they choose to stay (so they can't demand not to be a witness, but they can ask not to get personally involved). The only exception is adult material, stuff that would normally get a higher than PG 13 rating. This stuff should be negotiated beforehand even for someone who might be a witness or someone would have to warn the players with any amount of - in their field for this before it starts. For any PG 13 or lower rating, this is the responsibility of the player. A reminder about rape and torture: they are not allowed unless negotiated with the other player -and with staff- before any such scenes, but we still feel it is good to add this preference to the list, so it will be clear which players would wish to not be confronted with it at all, not even as a witness, and which players would be open to the idea. Some of these terms need a little explanation: being_under_guard means that as an ic consequence a char might get a number of NPC guards set on him or her to follow her around. This is a good ic consequence if someone seriously breaks sphere rules for example but you don't want to hem in rp for them. This way they will be watched without being completely dependant on other chars in their sphere to be able to rp. Being under guard by another pc when the player is not allowed to rp alone falls under imprisonment. The guards will be NPC's and follow the char around, and will act if the char does anything they were told to watch for. Conflict means any fight that does not result in actual violence, that's what the violence category is for. A yelling match for example. The rest should be pretty self explanatory.
